So, you have a Frenchie puppy AND it’s the holiday season—it just doesn’t get much better! Let’s talk about how to navigate the holidays with a Frenchie puppy.
Decorations: Ornaments and decorations should be out of reach for those sharp, little teeth. Think of your home as having a newly-mobile baby—anything they can get into, they will get into! This includes presents. You may consider holding off on putting any presents out prior to opening or perhaps putting a small gate around your tree.
Electric cords: For whatever reason, these are particularly delicious for frenchie puppies. It’s important that cords are put up and away from the reach of your sweet pup. French fries = delicious, Frenchie fried = heartbreak.
Poinsettias: We’ve all heard about the dangers of these beautiful plants, but are they true? Poinsettias are mildly toxic to dogs. If they eat a few leaves, you may see mild signs of drooling, diarrhea, or vomiting. While this does not often need to be treated by a veterinarian, you know your dog best. If you are concerned, take them in. Even better—avoid access to poinsettias.
We are beyond excited to celebrate the holidays with our family (both human and fur family), and we hope that this helps to ensure that your holiday season is filled with joy. Happy holidays to you and yours!
